Chaffles have taken the low carb world by storm, and it’s no surprise why! They’re low in carbs, have a bread-like texture, and offer endless flavor possibilities. The name “chaffle” is a clever blend of “cheese” and “waffle,” and yes, it’s exactly that—a waffle made from cheese! This Low Carb Garlic Bread Chaffle recipe was one of my first creations, and it remains my absolute favorite.
You can make chaffles using any waffle maker, but I recommend the Dash Mini Waffle Maker. It’s the perfect size, easy to use, budget-friendly, and takes up minimal counter space. You can find it at stores like Walmart or Target.
Versatile and Delicious Uses for Garlic Bread Chaffles
- Pizza Base: Add low carb pizza sauce, cheese, and toppings for a quick, satisfying mini pizza. See my Low Carb “Deep Dish” Pizza recipe for complete instructions.
- Breadsticks: Slice into strips for dunkable breadsticks.
- Sandwich Bread: Use as buns for a chicken parmesan “sub.”
- Toast: Spread with butter and enjoy it like garlic toast—my personal favorite!
Pro Tips for Making Chaffles:
- Grease Your Waffle Maker
Always spray with cooking spray (I use avocado oil spray) to prevent sticking. - Don’t Overfill
For the Dash Mini, split the recipe to cook each waffle individually. Using a Belgian-style waffle maker? Double the recipe to make a full-sized waffle. - Cook Time
Chaffles typically cook in 3–7 minutes. They’re done when the waffle maker light goes off and they’re golden brown, solid, and dry to the touch. - Let Them Cool
Chaffles crisp up as they cool. Don’t worry if they feel floppy straight out of the waffle maker! - Clean Up While Warm
Waffle makers are easiest to clean while they’re still warm—don’t let the cheese harden!
