I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mexican food, but when you go low carb, the shells and tortillas can be a no-no. I’ve experimented with several different low carb tortillas, but haven’t found one that matches my expectations. So instead, I make a Low Carb Taco Bowl!
This homemade taco seasoning rivals anything store bought, without any added sugar or fillers. You might be wondering why there is cocoa powder in there, but it really adds to the flavor! To make a large batch, simply multiply out the ingredients and store in an airtight container.
Add any toppings you like to this Low Carb Taco Bowl, but be sure to add in your carbs! We like to add Pepper Jack cheese, sour cream, guacamole, chopped lettuce, salsa and jalapeno peppers. When following a Keto diet, use 80% ground beef in this recipe (or lower) to keep your macros in check. You can also swap out the ground beef for ground turkey (or any other ground meat) if you prefer a leaner meal.
If you don’t have one already, check out the Pampered Chef Mix ‘N Chop. This handy tool makes breaking up the beef so easy! A wooden spoon will also do the trick.
